This is a special model exclusive to Japanese dealers, based on the Les Paul Standard '50s, the flagship model in the regular lineup, and featuring a Custom Shop grade top wood. It's a guitar crafted with meticulous attention to both looks and sound, utilizing not only carefully selected wood materials but also specially designed pickups.
The body features a classic material configuration: a solid mahogany back without weight relief, combined with a beautiful Custom Shop grade figured maple top. While possessing the heavy low end and sustained midrange characteristic of a Les Paul, it produces a rich harmonic content and a deep, resonant tone.
The pickups are based on the classic '57 Classic model with Alnico II magnets, but are mounted as the '57 Classic Underwound, which has fewer windings and is tuned differently from typical high-output pickups. Unlike typical high-output pickups, it features excellent separation and three-dimensional harmonics thanks to its low gain. In clean tones, it beautifully reproduces the resonance of chords, and in crunch tones, it faithfully follows picking nuances. Even with increased gain, the sound image doesn't easily become muddy, maintaining the characteristic thickness of a Les Paul while outputting a clear, articulate sound. Its high responsiveness, directly reflecting the player's touch, makes it highly versatile not only for blues and rock but also for a wide range of modern musical genres.
This particular instrument boasts a beautiful and elegant deep crimson Heritage Cherry Burst finish. The stunning wave pattern of the 3A flame maple, slowly changing towards the center of the body, makes it a visually appealing instrument, almost a work of art.
